We install and replace skylights the way the manufacturer designed: with the correct flashing kit for your roof type, fresh ice-and-water shield in the rough opening, and underlayment that ties cleanly into the surrounding field. Done that way, a quality skylight is reliably watertight for decades.
We work primarily with VELUX, including their solar-powered fresh-air models that operate by remote and close themselves automatically when rain begins. They qualify for a federal tax credit, which is nice — but the daylight is the real reason to do it.
If you have an older skylight that's leaking, fogging between panes, or yellowing from UV, a replacement is almost always the right call. We can usually drop a new unit into the existing curb in a single day.
