Storm Damage

After a Michigan storm, the phone usually starts ringing — from us, and from a lot of out-of-town contractors who showed up overnight.

Storm Damage

We're not one of them. We're not a storm chaser. We live here, we work here year-round, and we'll still be here long after the trucks with out-of-state plates have moved on. That matters, because storm-damage roofing is one of the easiest places in the industry for homeowners to get taken advantage of.

Our approach is simple: we come out, we inspect carefully, and we tell you honestly what we see. If there's real damage, we'll document it with photos and walk you through the insurance claim process — including what to say, what to ask for, and what to look out for. If there isn't real damage, we'll tell you that too, and you'll keep our report for your records.

We've worked with virtually every major insurance carrier in Michigan and can meet your adjuster on-site to make sure nothing is missed. We don't inflate scope, we don't pad invoices, and we don't talk anyone into a new roof they don't need.

Our hassle-free process.

  1. 01

    Listen

We start with a real conversation. What's worrying you, what you've already tried, and what matters most for your home.

  2. 02

    Inspect

We climb up and take a careful, honest look — attic to ridge — and document what we find with photos you keep.

  3. 03

    Recommend

Clear guidance in plain language. If repair is the right answer, we say so. If you have years of roof left, we tell you.

  4. 04

    Install

Certified crews install a complete roofing system — underlayment, ventilation, flashing, and shingles — the way it was designed to work.

  5. 05

    Support

We back our work with a lifetime workmanship guarantee and pick up the phone for years after the job is done.

Common questions.

How do I know if my roof has storm damage?+

Most hail damage isn't visible from the ground. Granule loss in the gutters, dented vents, or interior leaks can be early signs. The only way to know for sure is to get up and look.

Do you handle the insurance claim?+

We help you through it — we'll meet your adjuster, document scope, and explain what's covered. The claim itself is between you and your insurance company.

How long do I have to file a claim?+

Most carriers require claims within 12 months of the storm, but check your policy. The sooner the better — damage gets worse over time.

Will my premium go up?+

It depends on your carrier and your claim history. We can't answer that, but your agent can.

From our customers.

"They told me my roof had another five years left and I didn't need to replace it. Most contractors would have sold me a new roof. That's the kind of honesty I trust."
Sarah K., Grand Rapids
"From inspection through final cleanup, the Above Roofing crew was respectful, on-time, and clearly knew what they were doing. The yard was spotless when they left."
Michael D., Holland
"After a hailstorm, I had three roofers out. Above Roofing was the only one who walked me through the insurance process honestly and didn't try to sell me on damage that wasn't there."
Jennifer T., Jenison
